Girls: New Top 10 (Period ending Jan. 24), Fresh Stats

1. Red Bank Catholic (15-0, 2): Caseys are off to their best start in a decade with four more games to go in what could be a fairly improbable, unbeaten trip through Class A Central.
2. St. John Vianney (9-6, 3): This seems weird, we agree. However, the Lancers beat previously unbeaten and then-No. 1 Point Boro last Saturday at the Boardwalk. That’s a better win than anyone else has.
3. Point Boro (14-1, 1): Some believe the Panthers are the favorite for the Shore Conference Tournament. We’re on the fence.
4. Middletown South (13-2, 4): Seriously, Eagles head coach Tom Brennan is a pretty nice guy, yet he can’t catch a break. After years of freak injuries and illness, this team is dealing with illness once again. When healthy, they’re dangerous.
5. Holmdel (11-4, 5): Fairly quietly, senior guard Tara Inman is having a huge month.
6. Freehold (12-3, 6): Status quo after that big three-day stretch a short while back with wins over Middletown South and Neptune.
7. Rumson-Fair Haven (11-4, 9): Ended a 13-game losing streak to St. John Vianney. Now, the key is to find some momentum off that.
8. Point Beach (12-0, 9-0): All but secured the Class B Central title with a second win over St. Rose. Curious to see where the Garnet Gulls are seeded for the SCT.
9. Neptune (11-4, 7): And still, we wait for Lorena Hubbard to gain eligibility.
10. Manasquan (9-6, 10): If and when the Warriors finish 7-7 or better in Class A Central, make no mistake. That’s a tremendous coaching job by first-year head coach Lisa Kukoda.
